I have ripped and converted many DVD's to DivX AVI using Gordian Knot, but one is causing me some grief right now.

I've ripped the VOB files and they play back fine with no problems.
So I go through the process to make a DivX AVI file using AC3 audio. The resulting file's audio is not only out of sync but the levels are screwed up. The music/soundtrack level is fine, but the speach is so quiet it's almost inaudible.

I'm sure I have the right track selected. Also, I tried converting the AC3 audio file to MP3 during the encode and that resulted in the audio sounding good, but out of sync, though I can correct that by changing a setting during the encode.

Anyone have an idea why the sound is like it is?

Also, I'm getting fed up re-encoding the whole thing from the VOB files each time I try it. Is there a way I can just mux the audio - be it AC3 or MP3, with the DivX AVI movie (no audio) and having the option to put the audio in sync in Gordian Knot (or anything else)?

Hope this made sense. Thanks!
