  1. I know some people are able to edit Divx in Vegas but it's not working for me.

So I've decided to convert the files to something that Vegas can handle better. I tried using VirtualDub to convert to some other AVI formats but it would take several hours just to convert a 30 minute file.

What is the fastest way to convert Divx to a Vegas-friendly format?

  3. I've never cared much for frame-serving. I would only use it if there was no other way to do a particular job.

It looks like converting to MJPEG would be quite fast.

  5. I saw that and didn't understand how you uninstall the xvid codec.

I didn't try Uncompressed because it takes 42GB for a 30 minute video. It looks like MJPEG at a high quality setting will be just as fast at one tenth the size.[/quote]

  6. To uninstall the XVID codec just go to add remove programs click uninstall/remove.

When I read about uninstalling xvid yesterday I only had a Divx codec to uninstall. There was no xvid codec. Today I upgraded to Divx 6. I thought I better check before replying. Well, there was an xvid codec and after uninstalling it, I can now see the video track in Vegas for divx files.

    Thanks!

  8. I may still end up converting divx files. I can see that Vegas is struggling with the divx format.
