is there a way to compress .avi and .mov files for iDVD instead of trim them in QT?? i'm thinking that there has to be a program (similar to Popcorn) that has the ability to do so and still play legitimate files in iDVD. thanx for any suggestions. mb

Well, you're not really talking about "compression" becaue avi's are already compressed (as would MPEG2, of course). If you really want to use iDVD (for its ease of use), drop the AVI's into iMovie and drop the reference movie created when you save that iMovie project into iDVD. In newer versions of iMove, the reference movie is inside the project file; control-click on the file and select "show package contents", then drop the reference movie right into the iDVD structure view. Keep doing this with other ref movies until you have reached close to the 2-hour limit.

    Advise if this helps.

I'm confused about "still play legitimate files in iDVD." iDVD isn't for playing video. It is for authoring and burning video DVDs. Is there a different application you meant instead of iDVD?

sorry for being vague, but what i meant by "legitimate" was understandable formats that iDVD can read, i.e. .avi and .mov files. i'm trying the method stated above as we speak, so i cross my fingers.
