  1. I made a post earlier about some strange behavior with my software dvd players. PowerDVD would show video, but no sound. WindDVD would give sound but no video. Obviously some kinda codec problem. Reinstalling software did not help. My only other alternative was a complete reinstall of windows, not a real attractive alternative. Well I havent taken that step yet and still have problems. I tried a little utility called "sherlock" which reported that I had several "broken" audio/video codecs. But it offers no solution to fix them. Apparently junk left in the registry by software that does not do a good job of uninstalling.
So my question now is, is there some utility out there that can identify and FIX (clean registry?) these broken codecs?

DXMan is another codec manager you can try.
