i have video files, and i have about 12 video converters, i looked at all the forums that talk about lyra 2780 (i have looked this up for about 2 weeks straight). Some said to use pocketdivxencoder...but i tried that and i used the archos v100 and v400 and tried the xvid codec but it just says format not supported wen i upload it to my device...i have been playing around with virtual dub and tried the audio at lame mp3 at 48000 and 192 (48000 for videos that already used that size) i used the xvid codec wit as@l3 and i turned off b-frames...yet wen i upload it to the player some files still say it detects b-frames, and the audio is still somewhat out of sync...even if i want to deal wit the out of sync audio...the video size is not almost 5 gigs...i called thomson support and the woman just kept saying that all i had to do was take a file from the computer and put it on the file and it will work, obviously she had no idea what she was talking about... PLEASE HELP ME lol any of my questions answered would be great. thank you!

I had one and got rid of it I used mpeg4direct maker to make a mpg4 with no 'B' frames and finally got it to play. Pain in the but!

  3. Hi,

Use Pocket divx encoder or Lathe, the Archos settings work well or experiment while keeping the Lyra's screen resolution in mind. Works quick and easy.

Also, the Lyra will play mpeg1 and 2 so you can use those formats as well.

It's a device I love and hate at the same time, but since I mostly use it to back up digital camera cards when travelling I can't complain too much about it, especially for the price.
