i found this link in the quicktime forum at apple. its a script that identifies folders full of video files and does some cool stuff like killing webpages in quicktime movies so they don't open safari. if you download the newer version of the script you also need a couple of other programs that are listed there and they are free downloads. it uses ffmpeg for getting some of the info but it also works on some files i have that ffmpeg couldn't identify.

the actual download link for the script is

and you need these (i copied this from the post at the first link)

bsed - used to disable the nsav (no-save) flag in uncompressed QuickTime movie data
also used to disable web-page addresses in RealMedia, QuickTime and Windows Media files (changes http:// to null://)

stegdetect - used to detect steganography within jpeg images

ffmpeg - used to get more info on video files. The pre-compiled binary in the ffmpegX application package works.

Sorry, from the description it seemed like just the place to post info about a new program.

  4. No problem. It is the convention to post MAC specific news & info in the MAC forum (which gets auto-highlighted as MAC: in the front page "latest topics").

    Thanks for your post
