I'm looking for a "new" online source for my dvd media.
I've grown tired of the ebay selection (although not too disappointed)
But time to move on from princos 4x to something in the 8x range
All my searches for on line stores have not been to sucessful, however in an old 2004 thread I have seen http://www.xtreemtc.com.au/ and they seem OK for prices.
What else do other Australian members / buyers of media use for purchases "on line" in OZ or overseas (and their preference for media types)
And to be truthful, all the media choice gets confusing with threads years old. I currently have a NEC 3520A used mainly for compiling home movies for the relatives.

yep xtreemtc have been good when I've dealt with them, as have www.centrecom.com.au and also a bloke called chris who works for speedy importers (chris@speedyimporters.com.au is his email addy). I normally shop around between these guys for the best price on Ritek G05s.
If in doubt, Google it. -
Well I shop direct at Xtreem, and I love that place. Always full of stock, wide range, cheap prices all round. I think the cheapest undercut prices in Melbourne, in fact! And they know what they're selling - in other words, if something's not up to grade, they discontinue it straight away. I don't know what their mailorder is like, but their personal service is excellent. I don't shop anywhere else.
I buy Riteks or Ridatas from there (same thing, different packaging(?)) - 50 cake for ~$24, with hub-printable white surfaces. They have Taiyo Yuden 50's too, for ~$10 bucks more or so. I don't feel the need to go higher than the Ritek/Ridata's, personally. They do me fine. But the Taiyu Yuden (Jap made) are there, if you want 'em. Shiny surfaces. White surfaces. DVD cases. CD cases. Storage units. Blah blah. Everything!
And this Sunday 15th is asian New Year on Victoria Street, Richmond :P See you there! (I'm checking out the fashion parade - PHWOAR!) -
OK guys, went the extreme way with the RITEK G05's as both sites were dubious over freight.......
I lodged my order online & then you await final phonecall confirmation with freight costs, and wait & wait.......
So I rang them & find their PC's have been down for over a week........(don't hold your breath jimmalenko awaiting your latest order?) so battled the language barrier & had to correct their additions by $10 back to my favour (he said they have no calculator either).
Then the freight guesstimate (if we charge you too much we will deduct from your next order? Whatever!) & the Credit card fee..........
Maybe I had someone new, or someone from the other side of the counter picked up the phone.......but first impressions....hmmmmm.
Oh Well...Had worse ! There must of been a camera somewhere.
I'll give it a few weeks to see what I end up with in the Post Box.
Give me an online order form anyday with all the charges laid out. -

Centrecom have a standard $14 per "box" delivery charge to my area (with delivery charges laid out online) where a box could contain up to 8 spindles, or various other parts. I've only ever paid more than $14 when buying a full system of tower, monitor and printer. I bought some DVD cases from Xtreem and IIRC all correspondence was done via email - I don't think they ever rang me up or anything.
Sorry to hear that your experience wasn't as rosy as ours, but I think you got it right in suggesting it was a once-off.
Just FWIW, I would've thought a computer shop would experience the least computer downtime ?If in doubt, Google it. -
Package arrived in good time! (4-5 days)
No invoice, so will have to await CC statement to find out the final tally.
Will also have to put the dvd media through an identifier program as they all look pretty generic in the spindaless packs but I'm happy.
