This is not much of a difficult question here but rather a simple one that I am not too sure about. I just purchased a new PC and now that I have it set up the PC, I want to back-up some of my DVDs. I installed the latest version of DVDFab Platinum and I have noticed there are some more options that I never saw on my old PC.

To make a long thread short, I tried backing up one of my DVDs ('Fahrenheit 9/11' to be exact) and it started off good but after it got 2/3 of the way through the finalizing process, it froze. The same thing also happened with my '3-Way' DVD. I have a feeling it is a problem with one of the new options which are the burning engine option and the write type of DVD-R media option. For the buring engine option, I have a drop down menu of VSO Burning Engine or Nero Burning Rom (I also have Nero installed on my PC) and I used VSO Burning Engine for both. With the write type of DVD-R media I have a drop down menu of packet writing or SAO writing and I used SAO writing for both.

You folks would probably know better than me on which option I should choose so I can make successful copies of my DVDs. Any help would be great, thanks!

You might like to try VSO Inspector - it can DL the % of successful burns using your media and burner with the VSO burning engine from all the people that allow stats to be recorded. Quite useful info IMHO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks for the reply jimmalenko! I downloaded and installed VSO Inspector and I have just finished scanning my 'Fahrenheit 9/11' copy. Apparently the disc is in 100% good health but that is not what I am seeing. When I watch a movie (more towards the end) the aspect ratio changes from widescreen to letterbox and in letterbox mode everything looks streched. I also cannot access some scenes from the scene selection menu. On the other hand, I just tested out my '3-Way' copy on my DVD player and it worked fine. Do you think it was just a bad copy of "Fahrenheit 9/11'? Or could be a problem with my write type of DVD-R media option? Once again, thanks for the help!

Just a little update here. I think I have solved my problem here, folks. I was backing-up my copy of 'The Island' and I changed the write type of DVD-R media from packet writing to SAO writing and it worked beautifully. The copy was flawless (except for some time problems on the DVD player's display) but other than that it was great. Hopefully others won't run into the same problem that I did. Thanks for the help anyways!
