Hi,
I have downloaded a few .mp4 files from the web and cannot find a suitable codec that will play them in WMP. The two I have tried are:
nAVI video codec
Angelpotion Codec
Both found at http://codecs.necromancers.ru. I have also tried using AVIcodec but it doesnt recognise them.
Any help?

haali media splitter and ffdshow.
or play with videolan. -
There are no fourCC's in mp4.
Video should be either MPEG-4 part 2 or AVC. Audio should be aac, mp3 or I guess ALS now that the specs are released.
That said it is possible to store basically anything in mp4 as a private stream.
ffdshow can decode MPEG-4, AVC, aac and mp3. Can also encode to AVC and MPEG-4.
For an mp4 a codec won't be much good without a splitter though, which is why Baldrick suggested haali's. Could also use Media Player Classic which has one built in. -
Oops, me bad. I'm so used to AVI's using MPEG4 as a streaming type. :P
Yes, do what Baldrick suggested.
