I don't know if this is long-term or something that happened
just this once. I haven't tested further. Just that I got
it now, and am reporting it, case it helps.

I recieved the following error message when I was inside the
search page and i use the params:

    search for Keywords: [problem* ]
    search for author: [vhelp ]

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12 bytes) in /var/www/html/videohelp/forum/search.php on line 467

fwiw, I'm looking for some old posts I made back in late 2001
or early 2002 dates. Something to do with my MPEG encodings
(vcd's back then) and the movie Alien or Moonraker. I spent
most of the day (afternoon) searching, and still no find.
(I'm also looking for other old posts - nastalgia stuff)
I'm wondering if vcdhelp lost some older posts some time ago.

    Thanks,
    -vhelp 3728

I tried it a minute ago with the listed parameters and I got 86 hits. But the earliest one was 2003. I went from your profile and see the first post in July 2001.

Baldrick may be working on the server again.

I went back and found my first posts, 2002. Scary.

Well, I got 136 matches, but only if I took out the "*" in the
field.. ie, from [problem* ] to [problem ] worked. But, it keeps
crashing if I keep the "*" in. I've used the "*" in a number of
other searches throughout today and with no problem. (oops, there
goes that word that seems to be troublesome) Anyways.

It's really killing me, because now I am bugged with finding that
post I made back in late 2001 or early 2002. I *KNOW* I posted
the question. I just don't remember the subject title nor the
final outcome of the issue, though it had to do with something
along the line of studdering or jerky movements during vcd play
on my Apex AD-1500 player. Just a matter of finding that right
    key word to use.

(I did a search for the older user ShiZZZoN and his post count was EIGHT,
but I only found ONE thread listed ['Who Agrees?'] - as an example
    search test)

the search word list is not complete. i cleaned it when I had a slower server some years ago. i maybe could rebuild the word list with all posts...some day....

if you are using * or "" it may not work perfect. i have a 16mb memory limit to keep down the memory use.

and most of shizzons posts are in the "closed topic forum" and only mods can read it.

oohhh. Ok. That explains it. I mean, how bad were they that they
are still under 'closed topic forum'.. after so many years, who would
realize they exist, and you could have slipped them in while nobody
was the wizest, and they would stay (in a sense) lost

Anyways. So I didn't know that the search is based off of a key word
library. I guess that explains it too. Ok.

Would a google search turn up results ?? ..or are do you have to tie
it in somehow, as when I search on vcdhelp, and search results turn up
a no-find, it usually gives a google-link with param search criteria
headstart. I don't know. I'm bored, and I'm passing the time away,
and I'm just throwing ideas around

Ok. Thanks for your help in everything,
