I am having some major problems with video playback. I am running an eMachines AMD 2800 pc with a gig of ram and a 160g harddrive......I was having no problems with video playback until I had a NEC dvd-r/rw driver installed this summer....Suddenly most videos would play back choppy and either Media Player would give an error message or the computer would crash.....As time went by, the computer started playing the videos a bit better using Media Player and I hardly noticed any problems, which made me think it might have been a video card issue....

I reformatted my computer last Tuesday, and since then, all video files have made Windows crash or forced me to close MEdia Player. The video is choppy with horizontal lines on the screen. I have MEdia Player 10 loaded, the DIVX codec, and all of my Windows updates loaded.....Quicktime seems to be working fine, as I watched the X3 trailer with no problems....When I play an mpg in Quicktime, its fine.....The DIVX player I downloaded with the codec doesnt work either...it's choppy and crashes Windows as well...

Any advice would be most appreciated.....As you can probably tell by my post, I am not the most literate person when it comes to this sort of thing, but I really want to get it sorted out.......

    Thanks in advance
    Chris

Run your file thru AVI codec or Gspot and post a screen shot.
