my 700MB avi file onto a 4.7GB DVD? I've tried so many things. I used DivxToDVD, DVD Shrink, mpeg encoders, etc. What I did at first was try to add the file straight to MyDVD which made it over 6GB! So then I used the mpeg2 encoder to transcode the file so it will fit. That program made it 3GB. Then I used that mpeg file on MyDVD which made the output file the same 6GB file. DVD shrink won't work with me and MyDVD doesn't accept vob. only m2v, avi, wmv, and formats like that. I am about to give up trying to find a way just to fit it on the DVD. Someone please help me!

Use a videobitrate calculator. That way you can set your bitrate to exactly what you want. It's in the TOOLS section

Don't use PCM audio. Use AC3.

MyDVD automatically configures the audio to PCM. It won't let me choose the Dolby Pro Logic option, I must upgrade for that...

In the manual of Sonic MyDVD, it says that a DVD can only fit 60 min. of video for an avi file. Alternatively, I could use third party encoders so that the file is DVD-ready and the file size does not increase.

Ditch MyDVD. It is obviously re-encoding your video and audio and can't make it fit. DivxtoDVD usually does a pretty good job, even though the file sizes can seem small.

As suggested, use a bitrate calculator to find out what bitrate to encode at, use a decent encoder to get you video, use ffmpeggui to encode your audio to AC3, then use TDA to author.

Not true. With bitrate you can fit a great deal more depending on the quality you desire.

DivxToDVD probably will work for me but I want to stick with MyDVD for only the reason of creating buttons and other customizations. MyDVD always encodes your files to the best settings which makes me mad that you can't change that. I can't do much on that program. It'll take a 2MB wmv file and spit out a 48MB file. Plus DivxToDVD burning program is like a 30 day trial...
If I can't figure out MyDVD then I'll use that program...

Whatever floats your boat. MyDVD is crap, IMHO. You can do better. Much much better.
