Hi all, just aquired sky+ and am overwhelmed that I have 2 films on its 40Gig harddrive and I still have 98% free. How so?To capture at that quality on my PC I have to use .avi and 16 44.1 audio and that can eat 20Gig of Harddrive. My pc cant record in Mpeg2 to burn to disk.I have to go round the houses and convert .avi to dvd.If I record in mpeg2,I loose audio sync.I have an 1100 Duron 512mb ram and my mobo is a Jetway VB200 or whatever it is.A FSB speed of 100mhz.I know its not fast but its all I have. And to convert .avi to dvd can take over my pc for 5 hours of number crunching to then burn a disk which takes a further 10 minutes. My xpert pvr 713 x capture card has had its driver update from Kworld, this improved lip sync but still after 20mins captureing lip sync is then out. What is cause this?Xp is set up to use as less CPU as it can to max out as fast as it can.No screen savers or antivirus programs running. So besides boosting XP what else can I do,with the hardware/system I've got? Surely I should be able capture video.I've even been able to burnvideo straight to dvd bypassing the harddrive.Slow action and sound recorded perfectly but say, a speeding car moves then freezes then moves again across the screen in steps. Is this another issue with speed?
    Many thanks,happy new year.mikee55

  2. dUron is well underpowered for this. Also a second hard drive would be ideal. Burning direct to dvd is a definite no-no, you,re just asking for trouble. Why not pick up a cheap hardware mpeg2 solution like a nvidia personal cinema or ATI aiw (older stuff therefore cheaper) or even go for a DVB-t reciever which is bradcast and received as mpeg2 from the get go. maybe try a different codec eg mjpeg or huffyuv...
2nd hard drive would probably get you the most bang for your buck as it will not only help with capturing but also the storage.
your system sounds a bit old go for Alienware (out of this world prices)

    I hope 2006 is a lot better than 2005

The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
