well i was getting really really really pissed off at my computer so i reformatted both of my partitions. So now i put in my firewire card and im stumped again. I dont know exactly how to capture the video. I was just experimenting with windows movie maker (note this is typically not what i use. I havent installed everything). And windows movie maker says that it doesnt recognize a video capture device. It does this when i turn on my digital camcorder on the vcr mode and while it is hooked up to the firewire. My digital camcorder model is a DCR-TRV350 sony handycam. Im using a 4pin to 6pin cord as my camera has an i link feature. If someone could tell me how to upload my video, that would be greatly appreciated.

Try hooking it up without the software running, usually windows will ask you what you want to use to run. At the very least it should show up in My Computer, if it's not in my computer the cam isn't be recognized.

Is that a WinXP thing? 'Cause I'm on Win2K and My Computer never shows my Cam. Even while I'm capsferring (so I know it's hooked up correctly). Regardless, make sure the cam is hooked up and powered on before starting WinDV (or any other capsfer software).
