I have been using my R200 for a while now to print on my DVD's (white inkjet printable Taiyo Yudens). The quality of the prints were great.

However I just reformatted my computer due to some other issues. I went through the usual process of reinstalling all of the software, and I re-entered the preferences that I used before in the Epson Print CD program (Premium glossy photo paper/Microweave/Photo Enhance/).

But now whenever I try to print onto a dvd, it comes out really bright. Like if you were to turn up the brightness on your monitor, same effect. MY inktanks (OEM) were really low, so I changed them out to a new set from megatoners.com, thinking that might fix it. It didn't. I know that you can change the brightness from the first print screen, but I never had to do that before, and want to find out what the problem is.

Photo's printed out on printer paper come out fine, the problem is only specific to dvd's.

Using the clean print head utility did not help.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Cpt. Obvious strikes again :P

When you click the print button a confirmation screen pop's up,
There is a brightness slider right there....

Thanks, but I already addressed that issue

I want to find out what is causing the discrepancy so I can FIX it instead of applying a band aid fix.

Hmmm.... never had that problem & i'd have to check it out but there must be some other settings that affect the dvd printing in the main settings for the print software.

  5. ink maybe?
or your settings are messed up,try uninstalling and reinstall both the printer or the software.
failiing that, get in touch with the manufacturer,or apply the band aid.

I just got done reinstalling all of the Epson software and printer according to the Epson directions, didn't help.

I don't think it's the ink cause its not working with the OEM ink or new aftermarket ink

I will try to contact Epson, but for some reason I forsee a useless answer like "Buy more OEM ink"

    Thanks for the resonses!

Well if you had the same problem with the stock ink tanks i would not think it's an ink issue and you also said your paper prints are fine.

Here are acouple of other settings you could check or maybe adjust to see of it helps.

Click the advanced tab and it will bring up more option settings.

Does your monitor need calibrating perhaps? I noticed a big discrepancy between my monitor & my printouts (printouts too bright & faded-looking), so I calibrated with Adobe Gamma and have got reasonably-accurate prints again. (Tho' my reds aren't as vivid as I'd like, perhaps. Not sure why?).

    Found the problem!

It's actually a problem with my scanner. The images that were coming out too bright were images that I had scanned into my computer. So I printed out an image from my camera and it came out fine! I don't know if this is good news or bad news, are there any forums where I can post about problems with my scanner

Mattso; Yea my monitor is messed up, basically I have it set on full brightness, but it looks normal (If that makes sense). It's been that way for a long time, however, and I have never had a problem judging how an image will look, until now!

Thanks for the suggestions noahtuck and rottenfoxbreath.

Now back to my troubleshooting, I forsee a very anger-filled and frustrating night.
