Right i need this prob sorted once and for all cos its driving me nuttz and has done for the past 4 years now!
When adding USB hardware, automatically installing it through the hardware i have no idea but it comes up every time and i heard if u click 'continue installation' it messes things up.
How do i solve these issues?

    One of three options:

    1) Insert your WinXP CD and either allow the device to install itself or specify the WinXP Drive location.

    2) Insert the CD or Floppy Disc that came with the hardware and specify the drive where the disc is located.

    3) Download the latest drivers from the hardware website and specify the location of where you saved these drivers to.

Failure to allow the proper USB drivers to install will result in either non functional hardware or erratic operation of your new hardware.

Not all drivers are tested and certified, for whatever reason. Even well respected manuafacturuers don't get every driver release tested and certified. That you get a warning saying that the driver has not been certified does not mean it is a) inferior, or b) will break your system. If you could only install certified drivers, Nvidia or ATI would only release updates twice a year.

AFAIK this to do with the particular drivers in question not being tested / certified / tested / approved for use with XP.

I've read that a few times, but I reckon I've clicked "Continue installation" probably hundreds of times now on both personal and also work machines and I'm yet to have a problem. I liken it to software AUPs - just click through it without reading any more.
    If in doubt, Google it.
