cce 2.6.7sp question

looking for an answer for my brother-in-law. I am running dvd-rb and cce 2.6.7 on my machine.we were expirimenting on his machine which is a little more limited in resources.He is running a 500mhz amd with 256 ram.we were trying to see if cce would run on his system before investing money into software for his system.The problem happens after analysing is done with rebuilder.he gets an error that cce has ecountered and error and needs to close this also happens with HC encoder but QNenc with run fine with no problems.I know 500mhz and 256 ram is a little slow but all other programs for ripping and encoding or transcoding will work on his system they just run a little slower.one other question he has a decoder card to play dvd on his system is it possible that this could be messing up the encoding process,i dont know anything about a decoder card never had to use one,was just thinking that we have a card trying to decode and a program trying to encode could they be working against each other? but then why does QUenc work.looked on cce's web site could find any system requirements to run 2.6.7 sp.he is going to be upgrading his system but for the mean time he was going to purchase 2.7.0 and start getting the better quality backups until then.we have been working on this for about three weeks now and have gotten no where.I printed out my ini. file for rebuilder and copared it to his evrything matches were it should.the version we are currently trying to run and test on his system is the full retail version of cce sp 2.6.7.testing with my version thinking that a newer version might require more resources.

Is he running XP or ME (or something else) ?
Which version of DVD-RB ? Free, Pro, number ?
