media player classic and ogm ogg files

version 6.4.8.4 plays ogg and ogm files fine when ogg direct show filter 0.9.9.5 is installed

just got the new media player classic 6.4.8.7 and they wont play even after reinstalling the direct show filter

i dont think i did anything to the options in my old version of media player classic to get them to work

any ideas ?

and its not due to a an incomplete download or anything like that as the problem was there with both the official download and the one released with quicktime and realplayer alternatives

your settings should have been retained (I think). Did you overwrite your older version? or place the new version of the file in a different directory?

Go into View->Options and make sure that the checkbox for Ogg is cleared under Source Filters.

You could also try going back to the older version of MPC, if you no longer have it, you can get it at sourceforge.net, here is a Link

MPC has a built in ogm/vorbis only ogg splitter. No need to have Tobias' installed. You just need a vorbis decoder like corevorbis.

the new version just displays a blank window

I have the same problem here.
Newer version just shows a black screen.
So i am using a older version at the moment...

works perfectly

now to see if i can do something to get it playing asx asf files using a similar method
