    Hello everyone

I have 2 sets of video_ts which were made from 2 different AVI files by means of DivXToDVD.

    The files in both video_ts folders are identical (video_ts.bup, video_ts.ifo, vts_01_0.bup, vts_01_0.ifo, vts_01_1.vob, vts_01_2.vob).

But each video_ts folder is saved under a different folder with a distinctive different name.

Instead of authoring them onto a DVD, I burnt them as data onto the same DVD.

This is what happened when I played the disc on different DVD Stand-alone Players.

    Philips DVP642

The player recognized both folders and their vts_01_1.vob and vts_01_2.vob files. I could pick both folders and play the contents in each folder. However, both vts_01_2.vob files did not have sound.

    Terapin TT-1800

The player recognized and played only one folder. With this player, the vts_01_2.vob file was played with sound.

I would like to ask for your help to do the following things:

    1) How can I use DivXToDVD to convert an AVI into just one .vob file? It seems to me that DivXToDVD automatically split the .vob files at 1,048,574KB. Can anything be done to override this preset size?

    2) Can I rename one set of files in one video_ts folder in order to make the Terapin recognize both folders? If yes, what file names should be changed and which should not?

    3) If I use DVDShrink to reauthor, can I do that without shrinking the size (i.e., lowering the video quality) of the files?

    Thanks

    1. The DVD Spec says a VOB can be no larger than 1000Mb, which is why DivxtoDVD and all authoring software create multiple VOB files for larger titles. Look at any commercial disc and you wont see VOBs larger than this.

    2. No. A lot of players won't even play bcak VOB files burnt as data.

    3. If the two can fit on a single disk, then Shrink wont compress them. You could also look at using DVD Remake Pro to join them, and create a simple menu at the top level. TDA can bring them together and create menu. You could even have selected both AVIs int he first instance in DivxtoDVD and it would have encoded both to a single structure (two titlesets) ready for burning as DVD Video.

    Thanks, guns1inger

I used DVDShrink to reauthor the files I created with DivXToDVD. The DVD came out flawless.
