    Now that TSCV is gone (the site still exists, but all the download links are DEAD, and it's not even listed here on Videohelp anywhere except in scattered old references), and VCDEasy is trialware (has been for several versions), which is the recommended free / GPL (S)VCD authoring package?

    Specifically... I was trying to make some menus for my VCD's and I don't like the existing Nero menu formats and want the abiity to customize them a bit further.

    I'd stick to the last free version of VCDEasy. Works just as well as when it was first released. Don't think anything besides the shareware version of VCDEasy will ever outperform it.

    Lucky I have all those old tool's here ...

    But have you could consider mini-dvd , much easier to deal with , and no hassle to get mpeg , clip's back from later .

    kschang - you could always pay for the commercial VCDeasy. It's only $29.95 for a one time payment with guaranteed upgrades for free. If you live in the USA, I'm pretty sure you could afford this. Besides, if no one ever pays, the developer has no reason to continue to work on it. I paid a couple of years ago and I'm glad I did.
