  1. My girlfriend bought me a Sanyo DRW 500 for Christmas. There's digital audio out on the back, but no digital in. I saw in the manual for the pioneer 320 that it too doesn't have digital audio in.
Do any record the AC3 sound if present? I have a DirecTV R10 DVR & being able to record AC3 would be a bonus. Perhaps AC3 should be added to audio formats in the search function.

I was under the impression that most DVD Recorders DID record in AC3....my old Philips does.

  3. I think the poster means can any DVD recorders record digital audio (eg. DD5.1) from an external source such as a satellite or cable box?

I don't know of any off hand, but I'm sure I remember Philips announcing last year that they were going to release a recorder that could do this - but I can't find a model with this spec in the current line up. Anyone?

I'm not aware of any DVD recorder with digital audio inputs. So, the audio would have to be down converted to 2 channel stereo then connected to the DVD recorder where it is converted to 2 channel AC3. Maybe the next gen. equipment will do it, though.
