Guys, I'm about to purchase a power supply for my pc I'm building, but I'm really at a stand still on how much power do I need for my activities.

In all, I'd be running 8 fans, a couple of uv lights, 2 HDD, a TV tuner Card, a XFX GEFORCE 6600 GT PCI-E Video Card, an Intel LGA 775 Pentium 4 640 3.2 GHz CPU with 2MB Cache, 2 DVD combo drives.

My activities would primarily consist of downloading, video conversion, and general web surfing. Now that I'd have a more powerful pc than I currently have, I would be playing some of the latest pc games.

Now could someone give me an idea of how much power (in watts) would be sufficient enough, but not overboard, for my hardware and activities I mentioned earlier.

Also, could anyone tell me if this is a good PSU?

I run 4 hard drives, 3 optical burners, a zip and floppy drive, 3 fans and a couple of lights with a Antec 480W with no problems. About $80US.

If you are investing that much money on a system, why would you want a cheap PS that could fail and destroy it all? Go with one of the major brands, Antec, Asus, Seasonic, etc.

I'm sure others here can give you exact suggestions. A 450-550W PS should be more than sufficient. The PCI-E video cards do draw a fair amount of power. Check the video card and see if it needs a separate power connector as some do. It may come with a PS adapter for that.

8 fans? Going to be a little loud.

I have to with redwudz why get a cheap power supply with all those components you got. As suggested get a Antec power supply. Compusa has a 500 watt power supply for $49.99 after a $25.00 instant rebate and a $25.00 mail in rebate.

Not to insult you but I wouldn't buy a power supply from Ebay. It wouldn't be the easiest to return should the power supply be defective. Buy the power supply from a good reliable retailer or online retailer.

My advice is, go overboard, I ended up once with a fried motherboard due to a cheap P/S. I now have a 480 Thermaltake.
