  1. Hello,
I have a wmv file which is protected with drm (I think; I allways have to type in my password and username and my mediaplayer connects with internet. If the password is wrong or there isn't an internet connection, I can't view the file).

I want to be able to see the file offline, since the exams are approaching.

How can I convert protected wmv's to an avi or mpg?

I found several tools to convert unprotected wmv's, but they don't seem to work for protected ones...

    Any help is appreciated

Asking about circumventing DRM media protection is considered asking about warez. Sorry.

EDIT: I did some further checking and it's a 'grey' area if you own it and are doing it for your own use.

  4. I don't think this is grey at all. Sounds like he is subscribing to one of those online education sites that offer for a monthly fee access to their tutorials and video. You are not purchasing the videos you are getting permission to access them via their website (Hence needing to input a username and password. Downloading them and removing the DRM would be illegal and not fall under fair use.
