I have started a side business video-ing events and burning DVD's. For a general good practice, I want to back up all raw data (from camera - un-edited) to DVD for future use if needed. It seems that I can't back up a file larger than 2 gb. Any way around that?

Theres no reason you shouldnt be able to backup a file larger than 2gb.
As a side note if this is your side business and your just backing up raw footage I would suggest using External HD for backup purpose. you will be able to store a lot on an external HD and can place it in a fireproof safe or store a duplicated external HD off site in case of disaster.
