I am outta town right now for the holidays.. my dads PC here seems to have a problem with his DVD burner. he has a HP DVD Writer 300C

When i open Nero, Record Now or Roxio DVD burning applications.. DVD burning options is no longer there. Its listed ok in the Device Manager.. in windows explorer it just has that drive listed as CD DRIVE....

The dvd seems to play dvds ok and i can rip dvds to the hard drive using that drive..

any suggestions to fix this before i leave later this week??

    Thanks!

  2. It is possible that the wrong driver is being used because of multiple burning programs.

You could try uninstalling the other programs and use one and see if the problem fixes itself.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it & Not sure if it's still true or not, but Roxio & Nero have never played well together!!!

When installing Nero it used to actually tell you to remove Roxio if nero saw it on your system!!
But i have not put that crap (roxio) on any of my systems for quite a few years now so i don't know if it still does that.

I would also uninstal all the burning programs and just reinstal Nero and see what happens.

    Yes, it happens....

The two programs still do not play nice.

There is also a conflict because XP uses a stripped down version of the Roxio engine for cd burning.

  7. In dvddecrypter, you must choose the iso write mode, and then choose the iso file and burn away.

In nero, were you using nero smartstart? I have found that the easiest no-nonsense way for me is to use nero express.
