  1. Hi,

I've been using the following help file for converting xvid movies to mpg and then burning them as a VCD or SVCD using MainConcept. Setting the split isn't a problem. (when there's only one file) It usually takes two or three CD's depending on how big the movie is.

    https://www.videohelp.com/sefy/?id=divx2vcd.html

My troubles start when the xvid movie is already split into part one and two. Then when converting the first file with MainConcept I end up having to use to many CD's by the time I've converted both parts. Is there a good program that can be used to join the two xvid files before starting the audio rip and conversion?

Also, when using the above help file for AC3 audio it says to use the program HeadAC3he which I've never been able to get to work. I've installed it and all of the .dll's for it but it still wont load the source file. I always get an error that says it can't find the data chunk. Can someone point me in the right direction with AC3 audio decoding.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IIRC, either VirtualDUB or VirtualDUBMOD should be able to do this MANY TIMES with its DIRECT STREAM COPY modes. But I have had a few XviD files that played fine with Media Player Classic, but I couldn't get to work with them.

You could also try using AVISynth to make a "fake" single file.

Media Player Classic and ffdshow should be able to decode AC3 audio.

These are avi files? If so then I agree with VirtualDubMod for joining or AVIMuxGUI.

How did you extract the AC3?

I can only assume they are. I mean the only thing I have seen being used as a container for the XviD video codec has been AVI, but I suppose Matroska could be used as well.

I don't think I've ever had the need to, but it seems pretty easy to do.

  5. Thanks for the relies. Yes, the Xvid is in AVI format. I'll try all of them and hopefully one will work out great.
