Hi, been trying to find a freeware program that will let me join multiple vob files together. Tried combat man's muscle soft software, which does join the files, but when playing them back, there's a lot of speeding up or slowing down where the vob files are combined. Are there any freeware programs that will combine VOBs so they run smoothly?
thanks

When this is finished, you will have a new VOB file: VTS_01_1.VOB, or if you have joined more files you will have a Title-Set from VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_n.VOB"
but for some reason, it SPLITS my 7 files into around additional files!! anyone know why??? -
So you want to join them one after the other ... yes .
You have vob's but no ifo's ... yes .
I would personally use vobedit to strip the video and audio from each vob .
Convert audio to same format , use besweet to convert all to ac3 same bitrate .
Use ifoedit to author dvd , do this for each vob , select video stream and new ac3 audio stream , output to a new folder ... each one when authored gose to a new folder .
Before finishing each authored title , hit "get vts sector" , then hit "save" , you right to do the next one .
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Run vidchanger on each newly authored title , select ifo for title2 (title1 dosent need touching) , change cell to 2 , run process .
Do same to title 3 , change cell to 3 , run process .
Do same for title 4 , change cell to 4 , run process .
Repeat for other title's in same manner , cell always gose up by 1 from previous count .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Make new folder
Copy title 1 here , name it vts_01_000
Copy title 2 here , name it vts_01_001
Copy title 3 here , name it vts_01_002
ect , ect ...
When 10th is being done , its name will appear as vts_01_010
11th will be vts_01_11
ect , ect .
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run vobedit , open vts_01_000 , go up to right hand corner , and select join vobs , save to a new folder , and go , when done close vobedit .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do not delete this newly created title , but delete all other files now .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Open ifoedit , select "create ifo's" , locate this new vob title you just created .
Leave all options alone , and run process .
Before shutting done ifoedit , hit "get vts sectors" , then "save" , and go check out what both the video_ts.ifo and vts_0_01.ifo has to say about video format's and audio ... these should be checked and corrected to show the correct information , then "save" again and your done .
======================================
As for those extra files , its most likely some of you title's could have 2 vob id's hidding in them , thats why I said to demux them , this should cure that problem
Bingo ... easy .
The good news here is because you didnt touch those ifoedit settings in last step is you can select which "chapter" to skip too ... that's right , you now have a chapter for each of the vob's that where joined my way .
So instead of watching a boring bit , you can now skip it .
The best part here , is they can be seperated at a later date should you wish to re-edit them again ...
Again ... easy . -
Simply go here, and look for VOBMerge
http://medlem.spray.se/evilmastr/mainmenu.php
It will join VOB files easily, without any problems and as a side effect will quite easily join ANY files. I have joined MPG files with it plenty of times. Just make sure that the output extension is changed to match the source
If you want to join MP3's, just add the files and when asked where to save the file just rename it with the extension .mp3 and you will get one big MP3. Voila
This works with any files, as the software will simply join anything you give it without any checking. So you could even join video files of different sizes, ratios, etc, etc
Simple, and quick, and FREE -
to BJs, thanks I appreciate all the time you took to write that out, but I couldn't quite get it. anyway I tried steptoe's method and it worked! thanks!

I recorded a TV show with my DVR, and i used the HQ setting. I went to copy it to DVD, to put it on the PC to remove the commercials. I ended up with 3 DVD's. The first two DVD's have 4 VOB files, and the last one has 1 VOB file. So there are a total of 9 VOB files. So, how would i merge the three DVD's into one? Got any ideas?? I did use Ulead's DVD Movie Factory to remove the commercials from each DVD, and it worked perfectly. I just wanna copy them all and get them put back together so everything is nice.

Can't you join with dvd movie factory?
Or else can you join with dvd shrink(click on it for guides) or dvdremake or tmpgenc authoring works.
Don't use any of the above methods... -
hi. I think i could have used the join command in DVD movie factory. I totally forgot about that command. I never used DVD Shrink for anything other than shrinking down a very large DVD into something that was compliant size. Never did use dvdremake, or tmpgenc authoring works. I'll have to give them a try to see if they may make the process easier.
What i did to successfully merge all the DVD's into one was this. I remembered using avidemux in the past to take a DVD and copy it to my HDD. I just used that great program, which took all the .vob files on each DVD and joined them together, then saved the whole thing as an MPEG file. Then i loaded in the first mpeg, and appended the second and the third one, making one huge mpeg file. Then i used DVD movie factory to load in the mpeg, and remade the DVD. It was like 5 gigs in size, so i used DVD Shrink to make it complaint size. Worked like a charm! Thanks for your suggestions!
