Disc dont play after avi conversion.

Put 6 avi files through S2D "6 hours" then burnt it using Nero.
The disc plays ok with no problems on pc but wont play in 2 different dvd standalone players any help/suggestions please.

You say you "Put 6 avi files through S2D", but from your log it looks like you extracted and authored SVCD files.
As has been stated here before, not all stand alone players can handle SVCD resolution on a DVD as SVCD is outside the DVD standard.

I have 6 avi files named series 1 series 2 etc etc,put them in the asset section and selected quick dvd no menu from the drop down tab.
This is not the first time i have created a dvd from a avi file weather it be just the 1 avi file or several but in each time they have all played fine on the 2 dvd stand alone players that i have ,but not this time so it cant be a svcd resolution isuue or can it ????

I have put the disc in my mates dvd stand alone and it works ok to a degree as the words dont match the mouth.
I have watched the original avi file on the pc and it is 100% ok without any sync issues ????.

So it appears that this is either the wrong log or you are processing from SVCD bins (not AVI files) and this could be the source of your problems.

I don't see anything obvious here. Have you changed DVD media by any chance? As to audio sync, that can happen from an improperly encoded vbr mp3 audio source, a search here will help with that. Try a different brand of DVD media. Otherwise someone else may be of more help.

Can you explain to me why the avi file should play ok on the pc but out of sync after s2d has done its stuff.
Not knocking s2d but just so i can better myself as to what is happening or more to the point how i can help others like myself.

The out of sync issue could be any number of things and S2D isn't the only converter to have problems sometimes with vbr mp3 audio. I have used MANY conversion programs and had audio sync problems after. Sometimes you just can't do enough to correct the errors.
I would try using virtualdub to extraxct a WAV file from the AVI (File-Save WAV) then add the WAV file back in and save the AVI (Audio-WAV Audio, Video-Direct Stream Copy), then try the conversion again. This may fix the audio sync, I still have no idea on the playabilty other than maybe a bad burn or a bad disc.

Try creating ISO and writing with ImgBurn. Nero can sometimes change the parameters set by the authoring program and make a non playable disc. Not saying thats definately the problem but it does happen.

Is the sync off from the start, by a fixed amount?

Each avi file is say 28 minutes long,the file in question "clip 6" starts perfect and at about 20 minutes into the clip it goes out of sync.

I loaded the original avi file and watched it on the pc from start to finish and it is ok,just went wonky after doing conversion process bit.

As my idiot sister has now managed to delete the converted file i will put clip 6 through s2d on its own and check the finished result afterwards.

Any views on this most welcome,

The way a file plays on the PC is almost totally irrelevant to the performance on a standalone DVD. The standalone won't play the original AVI, will it? The PC has more intelligence and is better able to handle errors.

Am confused by your input. Did the ORIGINAL avi play correctly on the PC, or the converted MPG, or both?

It appears that you are stating that 5 out of 6 files converted correctly, and only the sixth file had problems. If this is the case, that would strongly indicate that the sixth file either had a problem while downloading or the original file on the server has a minor corruption. This type of issue is extremely common with downloaded files. GIGO.

Possibly did not explain it right "xmas drink" but i will try again.

Each of the 6 original avi clips plays ok with no sync issues on the pc.

Run them all through s2d,end result 1 x ts folder with all 6 avi files converted and joined together.

With me so far.

Burn this ts folder using nero and then view on dvd standalone.

All ok but starts to go out of sync,this is about 2 1/2 hours into the dvd.
The issue is whilst watching the processed avi file number 6.
Converted avi file 1 - 5 are perfect.

I then watch the original "non converted avi file number 6" on the pc and all is ok.

Summary.......File number 6 only plays up after conversion has been carried out,before conversion all ok.

6: avi plays ok.... what about the _s2d.mpg file on the pc? (on its owm in say MPC)?

Had it set to delete created s2d mpeg files.
I am now doing it again and will check converted avi on disc and s2d mpeg file when finished.

I will run off another dvd and see what happens on the dvd stand alone this time.

I have a similar problem with some movies.
When i play the with bs player everything is ok but when i try to burn to dvd with nero vision the audio and video are out of sync.
