hey everyone.
im having some troubles with widescreen in final cut pro. i recently shot a film using the 16:9 feature on a sony digital8 camcorder and went to edit it in final cut pro 5. for the past little while i had been editing in FCP3 academic at school and one thing that happened was if you had 16:9 footage and captured it, it would capture as 16:9 and then when you dropped it into a regular sequence (not 16:9) it would display normally (in the proper ratio). i could then add my titles and such, and then nest and apply the widescreen matte filter, transfer to camcorder and all would be good (letterboxed and such).
well this new version isn't doing that. perhaps i dont have it set up right but whenever I capture it (be it captured in standart DV or anamorphic DV) and place it in a standard sequence it stretches the image out. if i edit in a 16:9 sequence it looks fine but of course this wont allow me to export it in letterbox.
so my question is, how can I get it so I can capture it, it will capture as a 16:9 file but play back properly in a standard project?
if you need any clarification please let me know.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I don't have FCP but in iMovie there is a preference in how imports are handled. You might check there.
There is an excellent FCP users forum at discussions.apple.com and an superb resource at http://www.kenstone.net
