  2. Under MediaStusio---capture settings, select either "Uleald VFW MPEG capture driver" or "Ulead DirectShow MPEG driver" depending upon the capture driver you installed. Then you should be able to capture in MPEG format.

  4. Your capture driver have to support YUV or RGB capture format, MPEG part will be take care of by MediaStudio.

If you list your capture hardware and driver detail, somebody else has a similar set up may help you out.

  6. If that is the only capture card you have, you pretty much out of lucky.

IEEE 1394 is a firewire card, most likely, it only capture to DV AVI.

There does exist a few programs that can capture MPEG from 1394 card, such as InterVideo Wincoder.

  8. AT,
I'm using a 1394 capture card and ASUS 3800 video card which comes with video capture feature. The software is Ulead Studio 5.0. Can I capture in MPEG1/2 format? My system is; 700 Duron, 128M, 20G/ATA100. Thanks a lot.

  9. "...and ASUS 3800 video card which comes with video capture feature"

Possiblly. In VideoStudio 5, switch video capture driver to either VFW MPEG capture driver or DirectShow MPEG capture driver (whichever works).

Set Video format to NTSC/PAL 352X240/288 for VCD or 480X480/576 for SVCD, if your ASUS 3800 support the size.

Within Video compressing settings, chose MPEG, you'll see a Ligos Gomotion set up screen, select the same fram size as you original (otherwise it won't capture). Set bitrate, audio etc. up, and you are ready to go.

PS: If you ASUS 3800 can capture in YUV or RGB format, it will be almost certain that you can capture MPEG in real time with MediaStudio Pro or VideoStudio.

Many other program also might work for you to capture to MPEG in real time, such as Power VCR, WinVCR, and Wincoder etc. A few will also let you capture MPEG in real time through firewire (IEEE 1394) port.
