  1. I've just D/Loaded smart ripper 2.41 and have quickly noticed that this Awesome software now rips to 'D2V' which would appear to make DVD2AVI redundent as I can simply load the 'D2v' file directly into TMPGenc.... my problem is.... I have no audio file (Where DVD2AVI would create one)... is there a setting of some sorts in SM/Ripper 2.41 to capture the audio to a seperate file or is some other form of software required.... I have tried to use DVD2AVI just to get the complete audio file out but to no avail... Anyone got any ideas ????

    Cheers,

    Paul. -

I think you still have to frame serve with DVD2AVI in order to generate the audio file.

  4. But is there a way to just obtain the audio file with DVD2AVI..... as my sytem takes about an hour to do the Video (Using DVD2AVI) for a 2hour film and around 2 minutes to compile the audio file.... as you can imagine it would save me a bit of time ...

No, that is just fact of life. Taking only 1 hour to do a 2 hours video is great. It takes me at least 3 hours and then some.

  6. I have a solution........ (Stumbled Upon!!) - Using Smart Ripper 2.41 (This is apparently the only version that saves out the .d2v file) change the settings within SR 241 - File splitting - "set this to max file size" , change the Max File size (Default 4000 MB) to say 8000MB (I think you will need to be running Win XP to do this ?) (Should cover most DVD's) and RIP away.....

Once ripped.... start TMPGenc .... load in the Video Source - the .d2v file you just ripped.... To load in the Audio Source select 'View All Files' and select the single .vob file That was created from the DVD rip.... and thats that..... as far as I can tell this has eliminated the use for DVD2AVI for a DVD to VCD/SVCD (And whatever) conversion.... (And A time saving option!!) Can anyone else give this ago and let me know if this has worked for you ?

    Cheers,

    Paul

  9. Before you rip the DVD with SR2.41 you must click the 'Stream Processing' tab within SR2.41 and unable stream processing and deselect any of the languages you do not require..... Normaly leaving the English 6 or 2 channel...... Just out of interest..... did the SR2.41 create the .d2v file ok ??

  11. kv5, wut type of system do you have that it takes 1 hr to extract the audio. are u using dvd2avi to downsample or normalize? that might explain why it's taking you so long.

  12. I've tried this but I have more than one .vob file. Any suggestions as to why. I'm using XP and v2.41 of Smartripper.

  13. kv5, i've checked your method and I found a solution for your Audio problem, in Smart Ripper, use the Stream Processing option and select the Audio Track you want to extract, and tell it to decode it (or demux, I don't remember at the moment) and that will create the save WAV file that DVD2AVI would create, so you would end up having the D2V and WAV.

Side Note: Although I was able to create the 2 files, TMPGEnc would not accept the D2V file created by Smart Ripper, I tried it several times with no use, but to check and see that it will read D2V, I created from the same movie using DVD2AVI, and it read the D2V without a problem.

  14. I must admit that since D/Loading a newer version of TMPGenc I havent been able to get the .d2v file to load.... I have now reverted to an older version of TMPGenc (V2 I think !?!) and that now loads the Smart Ripper 2.41 .d2v file (Weird !!!) - Sefy.... Many thanks for that audio solution (Much Appreciated!)

With regards to one of the other posts about this matter...... Its not the audio extraction that takes an hour (DVD2AVI) Its the fact that to get the audio file I require to use with the Smart Ripper's 2.41 .d2v file... I still had to run the whole DVD through DVD2AVI... (Taking around an Hour For a 100 min movie) just to obtain the audio file at the end of the process (Seemed a bit pointless when SR241 now creates the .d2v file in its own right) Anyway, I have a solution now... Thanks

  15. So the problem with me not being able to open the D2V created by Smart Ripper, isn't just my fault, it happened to you too ?

Glad to be of help with the Audio Problem, let me know how it goes!
