I've chopped up some video with VideoRedo, but now i need something I can compile the clips with and burn to a dvd, any idea's. preferably freeware?

The only free authoring software is DVD Author and one of the interfaces for it. Either GUIforDVDAUthor or DVDAuthorGUI.
HCEnc is a good encoder, but requires avisynth to load the clips (both free). You could also look at Quenc or BBMpeg as alternatives.
Ffmpeggui can be used to encode audio to the correct formats.Read my blog here.
