  1. I have a whole bunch of rmvbs that I converted to mpgs with standard DVD specs (i want to author them). However, for 6 of my mpgs, when I open them in Windows Media Player, the sync is the same as in the original format. But if I author it using Dvd Lab Pro, the audio and video goes out of sync. I got a tip about demultiplexing with VirtualDubMod instead, and I discovered that when I open the file in VirtualDubMod the audio is also out of sync. Any suggestions about how to fix this? (most sync problems are with the original file, but in this case the original file is ok)

    Thanks in Advance

Sync issues are usually introduced during the conversion process. In your case, conversion from rmvbs to mpg. It could be an issue with the original file or with the software doing the conversion. Demultiplexing is usually done with the original file (where the audio is in sync). You then convet the audio and video separately, then multiplex them back together.

Something's also fishy here, since whether it's in sync or not should NOT depend on the player. You say it's in sync with WMP, but NOT in sync with other players? Did you try VLC, BS Player, MPC, and VIPLAY?

I'd also check it over with MPEG Tools (part of TMPEGEnc) and see if that helps.

Actually, I believe he was saying the files play fine in WMP until they are authored with DVD Lab Pro...so it's not a player issue.

Look in the AUTHOR section to the left..and find a different tool than DVD Lab Pro, sounds like that is where your problem lies.

How did you convert them ?
It sounds like there is a delay in the audio (common) that isn't being properly detected by virtualdub when you demux. I would suspect the encoding method used to create the mpeg is the issue, but you haven't explained what that is yet.
