What is best software for fancy VCD slideshows?

I have used FlyVCD demo and it is alright it has 20 effects like scroll, fade, up, down etc and background music insertion etc. I have made a couple slideshows and they play pretty good on my Apex DVD player.

I have also used the Ulead DVD Picture Show program with equal result - I'd just like more effects like spinning a photo onto the screen etc.

I would like to have more special effects with the pictures such as those that are professionally produced by film developers.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Take a look at both Vegas Video and Video Factory. Effects are almost unlimited, including zoom and pan of still images. Includes harder to find transitions like variable page curl and peel. Plus you can add overlays, an alpha channel, etc.. Damn good video edtiors too. Especially Vegas Video 3 which was just released and getting rave reviews. Adobe should be worried.

All of these solution are at 320x240 resolution right?

I've stayed clear of these solutions since VCD can display stills at about twice that resolution.

am I missing something? aren't you giving up picture quality to get sound and special effects?
