Hi All,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Here's what's going on:

When I watch live or recorded TV with Beyond TV 4 the picture is blurry and dark. Not really bad, but significantly worse than just watching normal tv (i have analog cable tv). I also have a slight video/audio sync problem, but the picture quality is really the bigger problem. I'm sending the signal out of my S-Video Out to my TV.

I think my hardware should be Ok:

Intel Celeron 2.8 ghz
768 MB RAM
Two hard drives: 80 gig, 200 gig, shows recorded to the 200 gig
GeForce MX 4000 Graphics Card, 128 MB, 400 mhz clock speed
Hauppage Win TV-PVR Capture card
Integrated (on motherboard) sound card.

Trouble shooting I have done:

T1: I played a DVD through the DVD player on computer, sent the video through my S-Video out to my TV, and the picture looked good, much better than the live TV or recorded shows I watch with Beyond TV 4.

T2: My mpg's recorded with Beyond TV4 don't look good when played through Media player either.

Here are some questions I can think of (but please do add any if I am missing something):

Q1: Should I expect video quality to look very close to the way it looks through normal TV?

Q2: How can I isolate possible causes? I mean, I don't know if my capture is bad, or if my graphics card is hosing me, or if the player is poor, or what else could be the culprit?

Q3: Not sure if this is a problem or not. When I get into the video card set up program, the system shows the name as "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200", but my card is actuallly "GeForce MX 4000". Could this mean I have drivers meant for an older card driving my newer card, thus yielding less than optimal results?

Not sure what other questions would help me isolate and address the cause of my problems. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,

Steve
