I just bought an LG GSA-4166B after reading some glowing reviews and deciding that it might be cool to be able to burn to DVD-R DL and do Lightscribe. I haven't used it yet, but supports DVD-RAM and all the DVD+ and - formats plus Lightscribe.

I've been installing the NEC 3550a for customers since it's release. No one is dissatisfied yet. It's cheap and besides DVD-RAM it will burn any DVD/CD media you decide to use. This drive does not do lightscribe either.

I'd suggest either the Benq 1620(40 or 50). The 20 has been great for me. Read the 40 and the new 50 are also, a great product

Go to newegg.com. Low price on most brands and fast, low shipping.
I bought 2 months ago NEC 3550 39.00 US and 4.00 shipping. Take 3 days delivery.

I picked up a LG GSA-4166B a few weeks ago at Sam's Warehouse Club. They just happened to have a few on the shelf. The only web source I've seen is at Best Buy. Sam's $79. BestBuy $99 + Shipping.

Reportedly, the LG GSA-4166B is also rebranded as the HP dvd840i:

This LG product is rather unique in that it gives a one-year warranty on parts and labor. Most other LG electronic devices seem to carry only 90 days labor and one-year parts.

The LG works fine with HP LightScribe drivers.
