I downloaded ffmpegX and the necessary binaries, but when I try to convert a movie trailer I saved (I have QuickTime Pro) or any other QuickTime movie, the resulting file is seen on my PSP as an unsupported data file. I'm assuming that the problem is with one of my binaries, but I'm new at this so I could easily be wrong. Any ideas would be appreciated. Btw, I have a Mac. Thanks.

  2. I suppose you're using the PSP preset to convert the movie. If yes, email me to major4@mac.com your preset (file > save as preset) immediately before encoding and/or your process output (blue "i" icon in the Progress window).

  4. You were not using the PSP preset, but the MP4 preset. Use the PSP preset.

Really? I selected PSP under Target Format. Is there somewhere else that I need to select PSP?

  6. If you had selected PSP, the summary display would say "PSP", and in your capture it said "MP4".

Well, major, then there is something wrong with the application. I know I selected PSP since I can see it in the GUI. I'm using version 0.0.9u. Is it possible to get version 0.0.9t to see if I encounter the same problem?

  8. Try again. Select PSP. Does PSP appear in the summary?

I tried several times with the same bad results and yes PSP appears in the Summary. Clear as day.

  10. Does the end of your process output read as follows?

    1 video MPEG-4 Unknown Profile(0), [..] 320x240 @ 29.97 fps
    2 audio MPEG-4 AAC LC, [..] 24000 Hz

    Code:
    ~/Documents/QuickTime‚Ñ¢ movies ?í/
Funky folder name you got there. You may want to rename it (no spaces or special characters), so that Unix tools don't trip over that.

Good thought. I moved my movie file to a new folder with no spaces or special characters. The Process Output file still contains many of the same [h264...] errors and the Output still shows MP4 instead of PSP. I'm at a complete loss.

For the ones that gave "Codec type mismatch for mapping" error, try setting 'Invert mapping' in the Audio tab.

The Monster House trailer is trickier. (1) The aspect ratio isn't 16:9, but 2.35:1, so you'll need to letterbox or crop. (2) Your log shows an output size of 640x272, which is way too much pixels for PSP. (3) You log says output framerate is 24.00 fps, while major's site says Don't change the preset framerate value. (4) You log says video bitrate is 100 kb/s, which should be in the 300-450 range. I got more weirdness when I tried the same file, I don't have a good PSP file yet...

You must operate in the following order:

    A/ Open source file
    B/ Choose PSP preset
    C/ Encode

Only ABC will work. CBA will obviously not work, but also BAC, which you probably did, will not work.
