Interestong to see what the future holds

Hewlett Packard will be embracing Toshiba's HD-DVD format for next gen digital video discs as well.

Hewlett-Packard, the second largest computer maker in the US, recently announced that it would be dropping support for Sony's next generation Blu-ray disc format as an exclusive and will be adapting to Toshiba's HD-DVD instead.

HP said its decision to support both standards would put the company in a "better position to assess true development costs and, ultimately, provide the best and most affordable solution for consumers".

This move proves to be the biggest victory for HD-DVD against the Blu-ray ever since Microsoft and Intel announced their support for the format last september.

I fail to see how this is a "Big victory" against Blu-ray since they are still planning to support it as well. It just looks to me like HP is hedging their bets to be able to take advantage of whichever one becomes most popular.
