  1. I currently have a Yamada Mpeg 4 DVD player, it recently started to have problems playing some divx files, i get the error "QPEL Codec not supported"

I am really due for an upgrade and wanted some advice as to which one to buy.

obviously i have stuff in Xvid and Divx format, as well a DVD's, so i need something that will play just about anything, including the QPEL codec that my current one has problems with.

    cheers in advance

  2. No personal experience with this one (yet), but I've done a lot of research on it and it looks like it does just about everything:

    OPPO OPDV971H

  3. Hi-

It does play AVIs with Q-PEL, and if all you plan to use it for is AVI playback it'll do fine. If you plan to use it for DVDs also, I wouldn't recommend it unless your TV has either a DVI or an HDMI port or you'll miss out on some of its best features. There are plenty of other DVD/MPEG-4 players with Mediatek chipsets that support Q-PEL and cost much less:

I've been looking for an inexpensive model and the US Logic DP3182 looks awful nice. One of the reasons I'm interested in it is because it plays QPEL. CompUSA has it onsale for ~$45.

I also recommend the OPPO. It is also Divx Pro certified...not just Divx certified like many players.
