i got this portable dvd player that will play DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, and so on. I was wondering what would be best, the plus or the minus, I have a mac mini. Also, what file do I need to convert my .avi files into for my dvd player to play it? I don't have toast on my computer. I've been working on this for a pretty good while, can someone tell me what software i can download and give me a step by step process of converting my .avi files, and creating a playable DVD?

oh yes, i do have ffmpegx
    love, luck, and lollipops ^____^

  2. There are many tools that do this... some free, some shareware and some commercial... there are plenty of tutorials... search the guides.

    I uses Toast 7 - one-step AVI to DVD.

you can also do this Keep in mind mpeg2works has been updated a bit since i wrote that but its straight forward still with new version.

I agree though, your best investment will be Toast. Simple avi->dvd and it does your burning for you.

Would strongly suggest investing in it. Roxio wont let you down

  4. galactica... you may want to update your DivX to DVD tutorial.. especially with the newer Toast features.

Althought it wouldnt be much of a tutorial...

open toast, drag movie in, choose your output format, click burn or choose save as disk image.

  7. Hello guys, related with your answers I have a question:

I am trying to uso the avi to dvd toast feature but it quits every time, the files are avis from Prison Break encoded with ffmpegX and with hardcoded spanish subtitles.

Toast starts encoding and then quits this happened on Toast 7.0.1 as well as 7.0.2, I do not know what I'm doing wrong; any ideas?

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year.

    M.
