    Hi,

I am facing a major problem with burning DVDs and playing them. I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition and I tried burning an avi file on my DVD+R disc to create a DVD. I'm totally new to burning AVI files. This is my first time that i am burning using a DVD+R

I did not face any problems while burning the disc and Nero did it quite smoothly....but the problem started after the completion of the burning process.

Once the burning process was completed and I ejected the disc and put it back in and tired opening it....the windows explorer gave me the option of
"Blank CD inserted, what do you want to do?" when i actually know that the CD is not blank and in fact it is a DVD+R with a movie burnt on it. Just to make sure I opened it with Nero and Nero recognized it as being full. And when i check the properties of the disc it showed it as FULL..but it read 0 bytes, but no free space.

Then i removed the DVD and checked it..and i found that Nero had in fact burnt the DVD cuz even physically the disc showed the burnt ring...if you know what i mean.

Then i went and inserted into my standalone DVD player...but even that read it as an empty disc....

I have a HP laptop (ZV6270) with a Matshita UJ-840D Dual Layer DVD RW burner. With some help from some other sites, I reinstalled the drivers and I also updated the firmware from the HP site.
    But of no use...

One thing that I found really strange is that on windows explorer...it shows the Windows C Drive and it shows the D Drive which reads as "CD Drive" but there is nothing saying it is a DVD drive.

But my Drive recognized regular DVDs...which I tried playing. But it just does not recognize the one that I burnt on the sytem...dont know why!!!

What should I do now? Please help. I have a lot of video on my hard drive and need to burn them asap as they have eaten the total hard drive space...I need to transfer them and clear space on my hard drive.

If someone could help me with a step-by-step procedure of solving the problem and also the reason why this problem ocurred, i will be more than greatful to y'all.

    Regards
    Hema
