I Have an AVI file encoded with microsoft's Media Player 9 codec.

Since none of my software seems to able to play it, I tried to download new applications (Media Player 9 - Stoik 2)/codec (Windows Media Video 9 VCM) .

However, none seem to work with anything older then Windows 98 SE (I have the orginal (with all updates except NET) Windows 98.

Is there a WMF3 Player/Codec that WILL work with the orginal Windows 98?

Surely MS's DMO decoders work with 98? If not you could try mplayer.

    I have 3 versions (Win 98 CD orginal/6.4/7) of MS's Media Player

I have Quicktime, Xvid, EO video, ATI, and some more players that I can't remember the names to.

AND NOT ONE OF THEM WILL PLAY ANY *@#$*%! WMV3 FILE

    (sorry for the capital letters)

But, what really get me mad is that I am "told" by (amung other players) Media Player that I do have the Window Media 9 codec (both for play and encoding).

However, when I try to use Media Player there is No video and No Audio, yet the time counter/bar moves

    Is this possible?

    And if it is-Why

If your details are correct and you have an Athlon 64 3000+, why are you crippling it by running such an obsolete operating system?
