    I need help backing up my dvds. I am new to computers and just learning so i appologize for my ignorance. i want to backup my commercial dvd to my hard drive for protection. what hardware and software do i need. i have heard about dvdxcopy but i have read that it is no longer available. thanks for the help.

    dvdxcopy is the worst software avalable, not to mention it was a rip off. Look at the guides on this site (on the left) to get you started.

    Try DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, DVDFab Decrypter, all freewares.
