My new 3G cell phone has the ability to download music, at a price (£1.50 per track). But when I do, I am also entitled to download a PC version of whatever song I buy. ( I get a code via text message which I enter on the operators website ).
Anyway, the files are in WMA format, and are DRM protected. I would like to use them in my car, but my car stereo only supports MP3. And I'm told the DRM will prevent me from converting them, because 'the MP3 format would not respect the DRM'.
    What a rip.
Is there any way around this?
I don't feel that I'm doing anything illegal, I mean I paid for this music, surley I have to right to use it wherever I want.
We'll be right back after these messages from Binford!

  2. You can record the song analog using WMP and Audacity, you will need lame_enc.dll to encode MP3 though.

£1.50 per track, say 12 tracks per album. That's £18. My advice would be to just buy the CD. Then again, I guess if you don't want all the tracks...

There are some tools for removing DRM from WMA files. Never tried it myself though.
