I have 4 avi files I want to burn to DVD for use on my standalone, they are MPEG-4 with AC3-DTS audio and they run at 23.967 frames per second. I have tried running them through DIKO because it automatically changes the framerate to 25 fps but it fails with these. I think it is the AC3 that is giving diko problems, though i'm not sure. Can I demux the audio to something like LAMEMP3?

    What do you guys think?

diko probably cant convert to pal if it is ac3 audio.

you can open the avi in
    virtualdubmpeg2 with ac3 acm, file->save wav.
    goldwave with ac3filter, save wav.
and use the wav in diko if you can...or mux the wav back to avi, virtualdubmod,stream->streams list.

IMO i would demux original audio in virtualdubmod. Encode each file to m2v (video only) and then reauthor all files together, muxing audio back in at the same time. Need appropriate authoring app with DTS though. DLP will handle DTS but there may be a slight transition between multiple files.

Thanks for the responce fellas, will try to save as wav and remux. I will post back with the outcome.

One question, do i need to use virtualdubmpeg2 or can i use virtualdubmod as i can't find the audio stream list in virtualdubmpeg2.

virtualdubmod. As Baldrick said ( 'streams'>'stream list' and then 'demux')

Do they have AC3, DTS or both ?

Do you have to convert to PAL ? Most players in the UK will play NTSC without issue, saving you a lot of headaches.

    Nearly there.
I demuxed the audio to mp3 and ran the files through diko. I now have four iso's to burn to disc, so i'll try dvdshrink in reauthor mode and tell you how i got on.

and yes guns1inger the avi's all had ac3 and dts according to avicodec.

    thank's for the help guys.

    Success!

I loaded the four iso files into dvdshrink and then burned with decrypter, works perfectly. I know i could have used another authoring program but diko is my favourite for taking 23fps and changing to 25fps without the video jittering evey second or so.

I will point out that I used goldwave to demux the audio to mp3 44100 Hz more by mistake than anything but diko handled it fine and converted to 48000Hz.

Out of curiosity has anybody else had trouble with diko and ac3 audio?

    Thanks again.
