Hello, I am sorry to bother you as I know you are very busy.
I am not going to sugar coat this at all...I am completely lost with burning MPEG files to a playable dvd. Before I say anything else though, I thought it might be helpful to let you know that my dvd player is a Daewoo.
I have a couple blank discs around my house, CD-R and DVD+R. To start off how I do this, which one would you suggest I use? Seeing that I am new to all of this, I was wondering which program you would suggest for me to use as well. Should I convert the MPEG files to any other type of file before burning, or just burn them as MPEG files?
Any help or feedback about this would be much appreciated.

Start by reading the guides and tutorials for terms, and general procedures on how this is done. Then come back and ask more specific questions.

Assuming you want to end up with a DVD:
Read 'What is' DVD. <<<< (To the left.)
To understand a little more about the format.
What brand and model of DVD burner do you have on your computer?
This determines what DVD media will work best for you. If you look under 'DVD Writers', <<< you will see some suggested brands of media.
Also check 'DVD Players' <<< for information and media suggested for it.
The process of a DVD video creation is:
Capture (With a capture card or other means)>Edit (If needed)>Encode (To DVD compliant format)>Author (To add menus and create the DVD structure)>Burn (To DVD)
Guides are listed for all of these. Start reading. -
Rob's absolutely correct, pretty much all the info you'll need to get started are here, in the Guides, Articles and Forum (see the menu on the left <==).
But, a couple of questions you'll need to asnswer that will help guide you in your search:
1. Do you have a DVD burner in your computer, or just a CD burner? If CD burner, you'll be making a VCD (VideoCD) and there are Guides specific to those.
2. You need to know what type of MPEG file you have (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4). Check the Tools section for Gspot or AVIcodec, which tools that will tell you what type of file you have. Basically VCD=MPEG1 and DVD=MPEG2, so you'll need to have the right type of MPEG for the target (the answer to #1). Based on *that* answer, you may have to re-encode the MPEG; again there are GUides & info for that here.
Good luck!
