I posted yesterday about 8MM original tapes. Well it turns out i dont have all the original 8mm tapes. I have to convert some home movies from VHS tapes.
The VHS tapes were originally captured from my Sony FX310 camcorder using the output RCA jacks (video & mono audio) to a Mitsubishi HSU48 VCR (vintage 1993) using the cable provided with the camcorder which had a COAX cable connection on it for input into the VCR.![]()
My current VCR is a $40 walmart 4 head machine with three RCA outputs.
My question is, since the original tapes were converted from the camcorder on that Mitsubishi machine using the coax cable input is it worth it to hunt down a good VCR with an S-video output? Does this fall into the garbage in, garbage out category? The quality of the VHS is okay, understanding that "quality" is a relative term
I am capturing with WinDV.
Thanks for any input!
Bob
