Ok so I have quite a few audio files that I need to edit. I'm using Audacity. I need to take out very small parts (like 1 second) every 10 or 15 seconds. These parts are very distinct, but its a pain to have to listen to the other 10 or 15 seconds to edit out this distinct part. Noise filter doesn't work. I have been fooling around with the tempo, speed, time track. Basically, what I would like to do is speed up the audio so that I can make the edits quicker and then slow it down again to output it. I liked the idea of changing the tempo, and editing was a ton better, but when I changed it back and it sounded bad. So is there any way to speed up this editing process with a plug in or new way to use audacity?
Thanks

Nope. Editing is time consuming, precise work. Before you even got to the end of describing your process I knew the outcome you were going to get. You might be able to use a demo of Adobe Audition to do this. It has pretty good noise filters. Otherwise, patience is pretty much all you have.

And like the previous reply mentioned editing can be time consumming.. however,
First very curious where are these files made from? are they from lp's records.. if so then it sounds like your referring to the click/pops that occurrrs from scrachy or dirty records ... which is extremely common smile.... there are programs that will automatically clean that up.... I am not aware of any FREEware programs avail that does that!! price range on these anywhere from 12 dollars to 500 or more bucks and some of your suit bundle programs such as roxio's or nero's suite will bundled a so-so editor cleaning program with them that designed for automatic cleaning....
in many case you can setup within the editing program to automatically detect certain sizes of the clicks ... and remove and rebuild the wavform... to leave a nice recording....
I hope that helps you... -
Ok, the first "tool" you need is patience if you really want to improve your audio recordings.
I personally use Adobe Audition to record audio form old cassettes and LPs and then remove the unwanted hiss, clicks, pops etc., using various built-in filters.
