Last supported version says stable but causes kernell32.dll errors on my computer. Haven't had one of those errors since switching from Win98 to XP. Uninstalled and reinstalled plus reboots 4 times didn't clear error. Installed 2.20 again and it's back to normal...

Let me guess... you updated to DivX 6.1?

They (DXN) changed the way the version string works and it causes AutoGK to crash. Three solutions currently:
    1) Don't use AutoGK.
    2) Uninstall DivX 6.1
    3) Change the version string.

Actually, you HAVE to upgrade to 6.1 or else it won't work and tries to default to Xvid. Apparently the manual version works fine and will allow you to select which version of the codec you can use. First update I haven't been able to use in over a year...

PS Even after I install the 6.1 version of the codec I still get a kernell32.dll error. Too bad he's lost interest in this proggie or else maybe we'd get a quick fix...

Can't find that one anymore. The main site only lists 2.26 which can be made to work by changing the build number using a hex editor. Well, it's almost 4am and I haven't figured out how to make Hex Workshop do that so I'm quitting for tonight. Most people seem to want to use the Xvid codec but that isn't acceptable for my Philips DVD player...

Must be the German in me (I refused to give up looking for a fix)...found the 2.20 version and at least I'm back to where I was. I'll still try to edit the divx.dll file but not tonight. Changing the build and version number will apparently do the trick...

No, you dont HAVE to update to 6.1 only if you use 6.0

Anywho that didnt work for me, with 6.1 it wouldnt even start so I uninstalled and installed 5.sumthin and now it works again.

divx 6.1 seem to cause a bit of problems for some.

2.20 now causes an error when it tries to save the final output file. 7.5 hours conversion time down the drain...

Time to find out how the author fixed the 6.1 version by editing the .dll file with that Hex editor...

Fixed the problem with 2.26 using Groovy Hex Editor as suggested at another site. At least I can select DivX now instead of defaulting to Xvid...

  10. I pretty much understood none of this. Is there a way to use AutoGK 2.26 without it crashing (which is what happens to me)? I did upgrade to the latest version of DivX, but would be happy to uninstall it and use version 5 if that would make the damn program work.

If not, where can I get the older version, and will that work with DivX 6?

If I have to edit a file with a hex editor, how do you do that and which part do you edit?

    Sorry, I'm a total newbie.
