    There seems to be no option to do this in the nvidia control panel.

    I feel like giving up. Nothing I have tried so far has worked. I can't play DVDs!! I just put a new video card in and now it is choppy as hell. It worked before with a crappy onboard card. I don't get this...

    unless I'm mistaken, the 6600 chipset does not support video overlay.

  3. What player are you using?
    If possible, select VMR9 as the video renderer in your player (high quality mode in Windows Media Player 10). That should disable it.
